Kelvin (K) is the SI base unit for temperature, used in science and engineering. Absolute zero (0 K) is -273.15°C or -459.67°F—the coldest possible temperature where molecular motion stops. No degree symbol is used with Kelvin. Water freezes at 273.15 K. Named after Lord Kelvin.
